QuickHash

If you want to make absolutely sure a file is not altered, there is no better way than checking its hash values. QuickHash gives you a wide range of specialized tools, for data hashing, comparing hash values and much more. You can check any file types, as well as text, compare items, copy data, and you can even compute the hash of an entire physical disk and Base64 data. The software can do a lot for you, and you don't have to put in too much effort to benefit from its capabilities.

Originally developed for Linux, QuickHash is also available for Windows and Mac OS X. It's distributed as a freeware application, and you can have it up and running in no time, without going through an installation process. Also, there is no need to meet any special requirements to run the application.

You can prepare and execute various operations on a single user interface, on separate tabs. In most cases, it's sufficient to target files and folders and to choose what hash type to calculate. You can type or paste text and get its hash values instantly, on the same tab. What's more, the application lets you hash entire text files line by line.

The software has several file-related tools to offer. You can calculate the hash values of a single file, and you can also paste a second hash, to compare it with the freshly retrieved one, so you can make sure your file hasn't been touched. Of course, it is also possible to select two files separately and compare them at a moment's notice. The software can even compare entire folders just as easily.

Another useful feature is the possibility of copying large amounts of data from one place to another. A copying function may not sound too impressive, but QuickHash makes sure everything goes smoothly, by comparing the hash values of the compared files to those of the originals, to make sure there were no problems during the copying process.
